M1 Oscilloscope Tools™

The reality of business today is that you're expected to do more in less time. You don't want tools that merely allow you to do your job, you demand tools that will allow you to do your job faster and better. M1 Oscilloscope Tools™ delivers the productivity-amplifying capabilities that you need to improve your measurement workflow and get to market faster.

Remote Analysis

M1 Reader is a low-cost, full-capability derivative of M1 Oscilloscope Tools... Reader is designed to put the full and complete power of M1-OT on the laptops of every engineer, technician and other interested party on your team, for about the cost of a copy of Excel. Traditional scope tools work at the scope and in the lab. Reader changes all of that by empowering your team members to check waveforms and generate answers to questions that depend on your waveforms on their laptops as easily as your finance guys might check some numbers in Excel while they are in a "meeting" at Starbucks.

The single difference between Reader and OT has to do with extracting waveforms directly from oscilloscopes. M1 Reader doesn't take waveforms in directly from scopes, and M1 OT does. Reader, analyzes waveform and waveform sequences saved by M1 Oscilloscope Tools. The combination of OT and any number of copies of Reader gets your team out of the lab, while connecting all of them with a single powerful analysis tool, and a common user-interface, automation standard and data format. Ease of Use

From the very start, ease of use was a driving factor in the design of M1™ Oscilloscope Tools™. A great deal of effort was put into designing an interface that was both approachable and intuitive to the novice users, while not hiding M1 OT's powerful functionality from the sophisticated user. In addition, by providing a common UI for all of your scopes, regardless of manufacturer, M1 OT™ allows you to switch between scopes more quickly because you don't need to reacquaint yourself with a different interface.

Ease of use also comes from M1 OT's embedded intelligence features automatically taking care of numerous tasks without requiring your input. At startup, AutoMeasure™ will detect your scope, classify your signals, and bring up a relevant set of measurements without your having had to touch a single button. The Hidden Anomaly Locater™ (HAL™) will scan your waveforms and report any potential problems to you, without your having had to set anything up or know what kinds of problems to look for. Other, smaller, bits of built-in intelligence are sprinkled throughout M1 OT™, all with the purpose of making your work easier to accomplish.

No matter how easy it is to use, it's at least as important that the UI enable you to effectively do your work. M1 OT's purpose-driven interface makes moving across the waveform surface both within and across acquisitions more effective than what you're doing now. All of the tools and controls you might need in a given situation are readily available with just a few clicks.

Compliance Tests
No costs
Save thousands

M1 OT's TestScript™ and graphical ScriptBuilder™ capabilities provide a powerful capability - the ability to create your own compliance tests quickly, easily, and at no additional cost to you. The wait between when you want it and when you can have it is literally minutes rather than the 9-12 months that is typical for the scope manufacturers. Another advantage is that once you've created a TestScript, you can share it at no cost throughout your enterprise.

However, in most cases creating these yourself will not be necessary. ASA has made available TestScripts for the most common named signal standards. These can be downloaded at no cost from ScopeApplications.com , a web location ASA maintains for sharing useful TestScripts and compliance tests.

Scripts for testing the following specifications are currently available for download:

  • DDR
  • DDR2
  • DDR3
  • DRCG
  • Fibre Channel
  • Gigabit Ethernet
  • HDMI
  • I2C
  • InfiniBand
  • PCI Express v1.1
  • Serial ATA
  • XAUI
  • USB

Reporting and Saving

reporting

When you've finished your measurements, or when you finally identify the cause of that elusive failure, you want to be able to document what you've done. M1 OT's 1-click Reporting capability allows you to do just that. In just seconds, you'll have a complete, professionally formatted report in PDF or any of a dozen other formats. A few more clicks and you can save the waveform data, settings, a screenshot, detailed results on each measurement and everything else you need to recreate exactly where you were.

Automation
Automate repetitive tasks
Create any test quickly

M1 OT™ is designed to speed up your measurement workflow at both the point of measurement (bench) and at the lab levels.

scriptbuilder

At the bench level, M1 OT includes ScriptBuilder™, an integrated graphical workspace that is used to create TestScripts™ to automate your repetitive measurement tasks. Button pushes, sequences of measurements, limit-comparisons, and more can now be reduced to a single mouse click. Some customers have measured a speed-up factor of up to 45x when using TestScripts to automate their existing workflow.

At the laboratory level, M1 OT can be easily integrated directly into your LabVIEW or VEE automation systems. Through it's included XML interchange, you can send data to and receive results from M1 OT, regardless of what automation process you use, saving you considerable time and effort. M1 OT's open solutions architecture makes it the natural place to develop sophisticated measurement results, analysis, etc. that will easily scale from a single test station to an entire lab.
