Training Resources for New Users
Using M1 Just Got Easier
While M1 has hundreds of ways it can impact your
measurement workflow, it can be daunting to understand
everything that it does when you first start to use it. One way to
learn about these capabilities quickly is to explore M1's on-line
video training at
www.m1ot.com/video-training.htm. Another way is to
purchase the onsite M1 ™ Basic Flight School (www.m1ot.com/basic-flight-school.htm).
With the release of the most recent version of M1 (v6.05),
you will find a number of new ways the product
explains and demonstrates itself. We call this set of approaches
"user-assistive technologies" and it includes
several new ways of helping the user better understand how
M1 can help them.

- M1 Assistant is a new feature in M1 v6.06 that helps a new user learn about the M1 user interface through showing him how to accomplish some basic tasks.
- Self Demos are scripts that will
explain to the user the options associated with that
control, and even walk them through its use step by step.
Buttons to launch a Self Demo have been added
to M1's interface in several places, such as on the
Compliance Test App results dialog to explain the Compliance Breakout
feature. Most Self Demos, including some that are not available
elsewhere, are also accessible from the "Self Demos" option in M1's
Training menu.
- Enhanced ToolTips (ETTs) add a clickable link
to the standard short text description in a tooltip on
many M1 controls. Clicking on this link will perform one of two
actions:
- Take the user to the relevant page
in the M1 Help file (Tell me more... link)
-or-
- Launch a Self-Demo on that feature (Demonstrate... link)
- How to Get Help can be reached either from
M1's Training menu or from the front panel Help button.
This dialog provides an overview of all the various sources
of assistance that are available to the user.
- The Web Support page (www.m1ot.com/support)
has been completely redone to provide simple and fast
access to the exact resources that you need
Moving forward, ASA will
be adding more ETTs and Self Demos as well as other
user-assistive technologies to M1. Our goal is
that you should never be more than one click away from specific
assistance on any M1 feature that you may not fully
understand.
M1 users with an active
Subscription can download the most recent version of M1 at
