The ASA Virtual Field Sales Program (AVFS)

These are very unusual times. We've seen secondary-market discounts exceed 80% on boxes and lay-offs of talented, long-time employees (up to almost 50 years of service!) on a massive and unprecedented scale. So our starting premise is that the "governing dynamics" of the T&M world right now are very different than what we have believed for decades. Old assumptions like "talent will always have choices" are unfortunately off the table. You just can't flush this many focused professionals into the street and expect them all or even a majority to find a new position and revenue stream, particularly in their present field.

We don't want to be discouraging, but ASA does have a lot of long-time friends in the currently-affected groups and it's a data point you might want to have. It's also where our option to the new governing dynamics of T&M come in.... the ASA Virtual Field Sales Program (AVFS).

AVFS is a scalable opportunity for scope sales professionals to immediately leverage their contacts and experience to quickly produce income and potentially create a new position for yourself with ASA.

Some data points on AVFS

  • For recent scope-sales professionals (Tek, Agilent, LeCroy) only.
  • Not available to individuals currently employed by any T&M company.
  • Not limited to North America
  • Scalable opportunity
    • Hands-off: Provide referrals and ASA closes the deals - you get a referral fee for each that closes, that can scale up as our success with your referrals accumulates.
    • Hands-on: Become involved in supporting the close of your referrals (broker meetings, local sales support, etc.) and the referral fee goes higher. At this level, it is possible to make double the rate of what sales engineers make at rep firms.
    • Under the right circumstances, it can scale into our Site/Enterprise program. Ask us for details.
    • Employment: Demonstrate through performance that you can pay for yourself and make ASA a profit and we just might invite you to join the team.
  • Assigned Account Protection - If you can demonstrate that you had an assigned account and commit to working with us closely on that, you can consider that account still yours in our virtual field if it is currently "open".
  • Geography Protection - If you owned a geography territory, we might be able to provide protection, depending on the circumstances. It's a harder business problem, and we'll have to take this on a case by case basis.
  • You can participate in AVFS whether you find a new position or not. Note that this may not pertain in certain assigned account situations, or if your new position is with a scope manufacturer or scope channel.
  • Obviously we cannot pay for referrals of people and organizations that we already have an ongoing relationship with, but there is still the opportunity for a hands-on level of involvement if you can provide it.

How AVFS works

If the program makes sense for where you are right now, your next step is to apply to become part of our field. The general steps are:

  • Email your current resume to jobs@amherst-systems.com. Indicate your current employment situation, what your territory was and whether you had sole ownership of that or if it was shared.
  • We'll follow-up with you after we receive it and start the conversation.
  • If you're accepted into the program and you want come in "hands off", you'll provide your leads and we'll start the process.
  • If you want to come in "hands on", we'll send you an NDA and take you through a short (you already know what you're doing) web-ex training session that gets into the value propositions of M1, the differences between M1 and all of the other solutions, the introduction strategies that work best for M1, the sales tools, and how to work with ASA. After that, you're off to the races.
